Book Review; The False Prince by Jennifer Nielson

Four orphans are taken to participate in a perilous competition. The main character, Sage, has a brilliant sense of humor and an excellent sense of adventure. Unruly and rebellious, this fourteen year old leads us through a tale of betrayal and excitement. With plenty of swashbuckling swordplay to keep things interesting, and snarky comments to make us laugh hysterically, The False Prince will make you run to the library to check out its sequel, The Runaway King!

Book Review; Winterkill by Kate A. Boorman

Winterkill is a creepy, vivid tale of a girl named Emmeline. Emmeline is believed to be wayward, a rule-breaker, by the other people in her settlement. Waywardness is punishable by hanging at the crossroads, like her grandmother. Yet she travels deep into the forest, determined to find the truth of her grandmother, even if it costs her life. She knows she'll be in trouble with the council if she's caught, but there's a voice in the woods that calls to her. Will she be caught and forced to follow her grandmother's fate? Or will Emmeline find the truth hidden in discovery?
